Walk This Way
Leash walking, i.e., the dog walking by our side, matching our pace, stopping/starting when we do, etc, is one of the most challenging skills to teach your dog and there's good reason for that. It's completely unnatural and frankly, pretty boring. That is, if you teach it the traditional way! Very often we start off with the leash as our dog's nemesis, him fighting with it and pulling against it. I want to introduce you and your dog to a whole new relationship with the leash. One that is positive and non-intrusive. The leash should be there as a safety device only, not a tool to manipulate your dog's movements.
In this 6 week course, open to dogs of all ages, we will build a strong foundation for leash walking skills in a fun and exciting way. "Leash walking without pressure" is about games, tricks and building a lastng partnership with your dog! The class will be modified to each participant's level and will start where you are and go from there. Included in the class are outlines, videos and instructional information, as well as a discussion forum (on Facebook) in which you can easily post your videos without hassle, ask questions, and receive additional information. Also included will be a weekly LIVE Zoom class for more discussion, questions and instructions.
About the trainer:
This course is taught by Laurie C. Wiliams CPDT-KA CCUI CDTI. I have 35+ years experience as a canine educator and behavior counselor. I am the owner of Pup 'N Iron Canine Enrichment Center in Fredericksburg, VA and have been teaching this method of leash walking the past 10 years. Never have I found a method that is as fun, non-confrontational and user friendly to both dog and guardian and have watched many dog/handler teams be successful with it.
